We facilitate this by increasing your understanding and use of strategies to support you and/or your child’s communication.

About Me - Aylin Huzmeli

I was inspired to study speech pathology following the birth of my brother who has Down Syndrome. This has given me first-hand experience in supporting a family member with a disability both as a clinician and as an older sister. This means I am genuinely empathetic and passionate when working with others and their families, and why it is so important to me to prioritize using a holistic and collaborative approach.

I graduated with a Bachelor's in Speech Pathology from the University of Sydney in 2017. I graduated with first-class honours following a research study focusing on training parents of children with Down syndrome to use Key Word Sign.

After graduating, I actively sought out clinical, research, and teaching experiences at universities. This allowed me to develop a broad range of skills and knowledge bases. I worked as a teaching support and research assistant for the Dr. Liang Voice Program at the Faculty of Health and Medicine of the University of Sydney. I was also involved in tutoring speech pathology students at the University of Sydney and marking assignments they completed for units relating to disability and augmentative and alternative communication. I also provided clinical supervision for speech pathology students at the Australian Catholic University.

I have worked in private practice for over 5 years throughout these roles. I work with individuals of all ages and abilities in individual and group therapy sessions. I am particularly interested in working with children and their families who need support with their early language development. I love to make therapy fun and engaging while focusing on functional and practical goals.

In my spare time, I enjoy being with my family. This includes playing with my son, watching movies with my husband, making desserts with my brother, and playing with my Mum’s dogs, chickens, and goats! I enjoy doing crafts, puzzles, and collecting anything that is holographic to add to my colourful collection.
